About the Author

Dr. Snitkin has been an educator and musician for over thirty years.  He holds a Ph.D. in Music Education (Supervision and Curriculum Development) and an M.A. (Oboe Pedagogy) from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Music Education from the Hartt College of Music. He has taught all levels of public school music as well as at the Hartt School of Music, the Armed Forces School of Music, the University of Connecticut, Three Rivers Community Technical College. He  served as music director of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Youth Orchestra for twenty-five years and has been coordinator of numerous arts education grants. Dr. Snitkin is a member of the MENC, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Science (a voting member for the Grammy Awards), an associate composer of Broadcast Music International (his songs are recorded on Steljo Records) ie. is a two time recipient of the Connecticut Songwriters Association's "Contribution to Education Through Music Award," and is the author of the Reed Player's Series (HMS Publications, Inc.) for oboe, bassoon and single-reeds.
